Fall 2023 Hollister Haul

When was the last time you shopped at Hollister?

Honestly, I haven’t looked at their site, much less gone into their store, since my high school / early college days. I’m in my 30s, so I’m definitely not their target audience, BUT I found some really cute items that I think would be considered adaptive clothing for chronic pain and also age-appropriate and trendy.

And while looking at trends can be fun, I think it’s important to make them your own, take what you find useful, and leave what you don’t. As we get older I think we really hone in on what our style is and have figured out what works for our bodies and what doesn’t. With that being said, here are some of the Fall 2023 trends:

  • Reds and Earthy tones

Red can be a little intimidating for some, so if the idea of wearing a full red ensemble doesn’t sound like your cup of tea but you’d still like to try this trend, opt for red nail polish, lipstick, or red accessories like shoes or handbags. If red is absolutely not your thing, you’re in luck as Earthy tones are also going to be on trend. Personally, I love earthy tones, whether or not that’s in my color scheme is beyond me because I can’t figure it out, but I’ve always been drawn to greens, rusts, browns, etc.

I thought this color had a great earthy tone and even though it looks like it would be really heavy/bulky, I’d say it’s more of a light sweater. However, I do not see this lasting for more than one season as some of the knitting was loose in some areas. But I think it had more pros than cons, and if you can get it while it’s on sale (which it is as of this post), I think it’s a good deal. Also, it’s more of a cropped length, it hits right at the top of the hips for me (I’m 5’7), but I like my pants to be high rise, so I think it’s a good length for that.

  • Wide Leg Pants/Jeans

Wide leg pants are certainly having their moment right now and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. This trend is versatile as it can be applied to several different pant styles, from formal to loungewear, you can’t go wrong.

I’ve always had a hard time finding wide leg pants that fit me well. They’re either frumpy, hug all the wrong areas, or the material is unbearable. These have an elastic band in the back, pleated details, and are high rise. They are super comfortable, soft, lightweight, and can be dressed up or down. I’m between a 12/14 and ordered a L.

  • Skirts

More specifically midi and maxi skirts, especially in different fabrics like silk, denim, or leather. Circle skirts were also mentioned to be trending this season.

  • Cropped Tops/Sweaters

But not so cropped that skin is showing, more like the top/sweater falls at or just below your waist. This length works well with high-waisted pants, jeans, or skirts and can either be form-fitting or oversized.

This cardigan is so cute, it’s slightly oversized with balloon sleeves, super soft, and lightweight. I recently wore this to my state’s fair with wide leg jeans and really liked how it looked. We got caught in a downpour and I was expecting that to ruin this cardigan by stretching it out, but it held up really well despite being completely soaked.

Don’t let the Baby Tee name fool you, this top is not that short (especially with high rise pants/jeans), and it is incredibly soft and comfortable. It says “seamless” but it still has seams. I believe I ordered this in an XL because I didn’t want it to be form fitting - it still is, but I don’t feel restricted. And so far I have not had any sensory issues with it.

I hope you’ve found this helpful, if so, please share this. Are there any trends you’re looking forward to trying? New items you love? I’d love to hear about it!
